Aims and Objectives


The aims and objectives of the Pharmacy Board of New South Wales are to serve and protect the public of New South Wales by:

   
  Promoting and maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct and ethics in the pharmacy profession.
   
  Providing for education about pharmacy and for pharmaceutical research, for the benefit of the public and the profession.
   
  Maintaining a Register of Pharmacists registered to practise in New South Wales.
   
  Maintaining a Register of Pharmacies registered to operate in New South Wales.
   
  Granting registration to pharmacists who satisfy the Board that they hold a degree, or other qualifications to practice, and meet the requirements of practical experience prescribed by the Pharmacy Practice Act.
   
  Granting provisional registration to new graduates who satisfy the requirements of the Pharmacy Practice Act.
   
  Investigating the conduct of a pharmacist where a complaint is received or where the Board deems it desirable to do so.
   
  Conducting Inquiries under the provisions of Section 48(1)(e) if the conduct of a pharmacist warrants the appearance of such before the Board.
   
  Establishing such guidelines for the practice of pharmacy as the Board may from time to time deem appropriate.
   
  Consulting with the Health Care Complaints Commission as provided by the Health Care Complaints Act.
